Daniel Wallace

Collisions attempts to portray an abstract, mental state, namely the duality we feel in relation to accidents or catastrophe when experienced from a distance. As spectator through representations, Wallace wanted the viewer to confront the human fear of trauma and death, collided bodyworks, dents and cracks. The images speak to our dark romance with car chases, joy rides, and drag races. The reality behind these wrecks is probably more mundane and the genuine tragedy confronts the viewer with sterile depictions of aesthetically deployed airbags, revealing ambiguous tales of human trauma.

Collisions is a photographic study based on vehicles from fatal traffic accidents.
